How often do you think about the way you breathe? It is one of those things that we just do - right?
The way you breathe affects all of the systems in your body - and it can be the huge difference between feeling relaxed and feeling anxious.
Here is a little technique to try out - let me know if you feel more relaxed .....
Lie on the floor with your knees bent and take a moment to become aware of how your back is resting on the mat/floor. Feel your mid back and then press your lower back into the floor to get a sensation of where you are aiming and then release. As you continue to relax take a full inhale directing the breath to your back, first behind the navel and then fill up in all directions from the deep centre outwards. Do it as if your belly were a balloon, filling in all directions at once. Pay attention to the area from behind the navel toward the floor. Try to not flex any muscles, breathe slowly and gradually, filling up the rear part of the abdomen and then letting the fullness rise to your rib cage. Breathe in lots of air, lots of relaxation, and some peaceful time. Repeat until you feel nicely relaxed.
